Job Title: Product Designer - Specialized 5

Location: Hybrid - Beaverton, OR
Position Type: Contract (Pay-as-you-go)
Pay Rate: USD $65.33 / hour
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Fridays Remote)
Work Timezone: Pacific Time (GMT -0800)
Hours per Week: 40
Duration: 3 months
Expected Start Date: January 05, 2026
Expected End Date: April 05, 2026
Reporting Location: Beaverton, OR

Job Description

The Product Designer - Specialized 5 is an expert-level footwear designer responsible for delivering high-impact design solutions aligned with creative vision, innovation strategy, and performance footwear initiatives. This role provides coverage for an employee on family leave and requires an experienced, self-directed designer who can independently manage complex design projects from concept through manufacturing.

The designer will contribute to creative leadership, set design direction for product collections, and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners including development, innovation, manufacturing, and merchandising. Strong communication, creative agility, and deep footwear design expertise are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute footwear design projects aligned with seasonal briefs and creative direction

  • Set and refine design direction for a product silo or collection within a dimension

  • Develop innovative design concepts with a strong understanding of materials and manufacturing

  • Communicate and present design concepts clearly to internal and external stakeholders

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with development, innovation, manufacturing, merchandising, and sustainability partners

  • Manage design timelines independently, navigating complexity without hand-holding

  • Ensure timely project completion by clearly communicating changes and updates

  • Participate actively in the creative process and contribute to design leadership discussions

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers when needed

Required Qualifications & Experience

Design Expertise

  • 8-10+ years of professional footwear design experience

  • Expert-level industrial design skills within the footwear industry

  • Proven experience designing within a large, corporate footwear environment

  • Strong understanding of footwear product creation and manufacturing processes

Technical & Creative Skills

  • Mastery of digital design tools (Adobe Creative Suite required)

  • Preferred experience with advanced digital tools and 3D design

  • Strong materials knowledge and innovation mindset

  • Ability to take designs from brief to presentation to manufacturing

Communication & Leadership

  • Excellent presentation and storytelling skills

  • Strong cross-functional communication with senior leaders and partners

  • Ability to clearly articulate design intent and project updates

  • Self-starter with strong project management and organizational skills

Education

  • Degree not required

  • Associate Degree or equivalent preferred
