Job Description
Embark on a dynamic PACU nursing journey as a Registered Nurse in Burlington, Vermont, where your expertise will guide patients through the critical emergence period and into comfortable, safe recovery. This travel opportunity places you at the forefront of post-anesthesia care, delivering compassionate assessment, timely interventions, and skilled collaboration with surgical teams to optimize outcomes. Your work will leave a tangible, positive imprint on patients and families during a pivotal moment in their health. Nestled beside Lake Champlain and framed by the foothills of the Green Mountains, this state offers a tapestry of beauty—from autumn foliage dazzling in a spectrum of golds and reds to vibrant summer lakefronts, cozy downtowns, and welcoming communities. Vermont’s pristine air, outdoor recs, farmer’s markets, and cultural festivals deliver a refreshing balance of professional purpose and personal renewal—an environment where you can recharge after demanding shifts and return each week inspired to perform at your best.
Vermont’s Burlington setting blends urban convenience with small-town warmth, while the broader opportunity to work in varied U.S. locations expands your professional horizons. You’ll enjoy the chance to contribute in state-of-the-art PACU units, with the flexibility to experience different hospital cultures, patient populations, and procedural specialties. Whether you’re leaning into the scenic, walkable streets of Burlington, seeking a quick mountain escape, or exploring other regions on assignment, you’ll gain exposure to diverse cases and patient demographics. The role is designed to be as enriching personally as it is professionally, with support systems in place to help you thrive wherever your travel assignments take you.
As a PACU RN, you’ll be integral to the patient recovery journey. Role specifics include:
- Delivering vigilant post-anesthesia assessments, monitoring vital signs, airway patency, respiratory status, and pain control while anticipating potential complications.
- Implementing and adjusting care plans in collaboration with anesthesia, surgical teams, and unit nurses to promote safe, efficient recoveries and timely discharges.
- Managing documentation, discharge criteria, and patient education to ensure families understand post-op care, medication protocols, and red flags.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives, infection prevention practices, and standardized pathways that elevate perioperative safety and outcomes.
- Advocating for patients and families, communicating clearly during changing clinical statuses, and coordinating with case managers for efficient transitions.
Growth opportunities abound in this PACU assignment. You’ll deepen expertise in emergence phenomena, airway management, and multimodal analgesia, while advancing critical thinking, rapid decision-making, and evidence-based practice. The role also opens doors to cross-training in perioperative services, leadership pathways, and specialty certifications, helping you chart a path that aligns with your long-term goals. You’ll be supported to pursue professional development, attend skill-building sessions, and participate in mentorship relationships that value your growth.
The package is designed to reward your expertise and dedication. Expect competitive compensation with a weekly pay range of $2,224–$2,320, reflecting experience and shift patterns. In addition to strong compensation, you’ll have access to a sign-on bonus, housing assistance to ease relocation, and flexible extension opportunities that fit your career plans and personal commitments. A comprehensive support network is in place 24/7 as you travel with the company, ensuring you always have experienced guidance, clinical resources, and logistical help at your fingertips. Our travel teams are dedicated to making your assignments smooth—from onboarding and credentialing to ongoing wellness and service continuity—so you can focus on delivering exceptional patient care.
Our company is committed to empowering its staff, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful work environment where your contributions matter and your career can flourish. We value transparent communication, continuous learning, and opportunities for advancement that recognize both clinical excellence and professional integrity. You’ll join a culture that places patient safety, teamwork, and compassionate care at the center of every shift, while supporting your personal well-being and professional ambitions.
Ready to apply? This is your invitation to join a company that honors your skill, supports your journey, and helps you shape the future of perioperative care. Embrace a role that blends clinical challenge with scenic Vermont living and nationwide opportunities—where your expertise in PACU makes a lasting impact on patients, families, and communities.
