Job Description

The Transportation Specialist will support the Director of Transportation in the planning, coordinating, and executing the transportation strategy for FIFA World Cup 26™ in Kansas City. This role is essential to delivering safe, efficient, and integrated transport operations which support the movement for athletes, officials, volunteers, staff, and fans across the city during the tournament.

The ideal candidate will combine strong organizational skills with logistical expertise and engineering insight, and excel in a fast-paced, high-profile environment. This position requires coordination across multiple partners, vendors, and municipal agencies, along with experience managing transportation systems and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support implementation of the Host City transportation plan, ensuring alignment with FIFA requirements and local objectives.
  • Coordinate day-to-day transportation logistics, including vehicle routing, shuttle schedules, and staging areas.
  • Assist with managing timelines, checklists, and milestones to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Collaborate with city departments, transit authorities, and external vendors to meet service and infrastructure needs.
  • Oversee operations of temporary transport hubs, mobility corridors, and pick-up/drop-off zones during the event.
  • Assist with transportation testing, simulations, and readiness exercises with engineering and logistics teams.
  • Monitor transport performance metrics and support the real-time operations center during the tournament to address changing conditions.
  • Prepare and deliver KC2026 transportation presentations for KC2026.
  • Serve as a primary contact for assigned partners, vendors, and departments, providing updates and resolving issues.
  • Prepare reports, maps, and briefings for internal stakeholders, local agencies, and FIFA.
  • Maintain current, accurate transportation planning documents, permits, and operational records.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation operations, event logistics, or infrastructure project coordination.
  • Experience working with municipal agencies or transportation authorities strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of traffic management, routing, and urban transit operations.
  • Ability to interpret engineering plans and apply transportation standards to operational planning.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills; experience with transportation planning tools, GIS, or scheduling software a plus.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and problem-solve in dynamic event conditions.
