Title: Supplier Development Engineer

Location: Mossville, IL (Onsite)

Duration: 12 months

Pay Rate: Roughly $43/hr W2 + benefits | $49/hr C2C

Job Description:

A leading Fortune 500 manufacturer is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) 2 to support and enhance its global supplier network. This role will provide technical leadership in driving supplier quality, cost, and delivery performance by implementing process controls, quality plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The SDE will play a key role in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), validating supplier readiness and PPAP documentation, and ensuring ongoing alignment with organizational quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct QCLDM audits to assess supplier capabilities.
  • Drive Lean, Built-In Quality (BIQ), and APQP implementation at supplier sites.
  • Review and approve Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages.
  • Lead or support supplier process FMEAs and 8D corrective actions.
  • Validate process controls and ensure process capability.
  • Support SQEP certification and Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Develop and manage supplier performance metrics and conduct Supplier Performance Reviews.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, and quality teams.
  • Support supplier onboarding and continuous development from concept through end-of-life.

Candidate Requirements:

Education & Experience (Required):

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in supplier quality, development, or manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and shop floor operations.

Technical Skills (Required):

  • Root cause analysis, auditing, and quality management.
  • Strong communication and process control expertise.

Technical Skills (Desired):

  • Excel proficiency (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
  • ETQ Reliance or similar QMS tools.
  • ASQ or Quality Engineering certification.

Soft Skills (Required):

  • Problem-solving mindset, teamwork, and a positive attitude.

  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivation.
