Position Description:Open-Rank Intructional Track Faculty in Sport & Recreation Management
The University of Iowa’s Department of Health, Sport, and Human Physiology invites applications for a full-time, open-rank instructional track faculty position in Sport and Recreation Management (SRM) for the academic year 2026-27, beginning August 19, 2026, renewable for a total of three years (2026-2029) and renewable thereafter in three-year increments. Applications are sought from candidates with a demonstrated potential for outstanding teaching in three or more courses from the following list of SRM courses:
Duties of this position include teaching and service to the department. The department has shown significant growth over the past several years and is currently the largest department at the University of Iowa with 2200+ undergraduate students across six majors including Human Physiology, Exercise Science, Health Studies, Health Promotion, Sport and Recreation Management, and Therapeutic Recreation. To accommodate this growth, a new six-story, $249 million Health Science Academic Building that will house the Departments of Health and Human Physiology, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences, and Communication Sciences and Disorders, is scheduled to be completed in 2026. This new building will become a hub for innovative teaching and learning, community outreach and engagement, experiential education, and cutting-edge biomedical, clinical, and community health-related research.
