As their longtime Shop Foreman prepares for retirement, our client is searching for a skilled and experienced leader to oversee shop operations. This role goes beyond traditional heavy equipment mechanics—it requires expertise in custom heavy gearing for deck-mounted winches, hoists, and lifting equipment . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hydraulic systems, gear ratios, fabrication, and precision assembly . 

You will be responsible for interacting with customers to understand project scope, overseeing fabrication and assembly, managing parts ordering, and ensuring high-quality workmanship . If the right candidate is found, our client is prepared to make an early transition.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the fabrication and assembly of custom heavy lifting equipment
• Work with hydraulic pumps, lines, gear ratios, and specialized lifting mechanics
• Ensure precise calculations for custom gearing and power transmission systems
• Interact with customers to assess project needs and technical requirements
• Order and manage parts and materials for projects
• Supervise and support the shop team, ensuring safety and efficiency
• Maintain high standards of quality control and adherence to specifications

Qualifications

• Proven experience in engineering, fabricating, and assembling heavy lifting equipment
• Strong knowledge of power systems, gearing, hydraulics, and controls
• Ability to perform technical calculations for custom gearing and load specifications
• Experience managing shop operations, including workflow, parts sourcing, and quality control
• Strong leadership and customer service skills
• Prior experience supervising and mentoring a technical team
