Responsibilities
Work in conjunction with Project lead to ensure I & E drawings are done within client requirements and are completed in a timely manner.
Produce bid/construction drawing packages per the client’s specifications and engineer’s/project manager’s instruction through verbal instructions, sketches, one-lines, and other information.
Take projects from conceptual design, through detail design, and create complete construction drawing packages.
Assist Engineers in producing complete request for quote/request for bid packages for field contractors and vendors.
Produce construction packages using minimal documentation (i.e. one-lines, plot plan sketches, engineering sketches).
Perform site surveys to gather information as required.
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years of experience designing Electrical and Instrument installations for the petrochemical industry.
Extensive and recent experience upgrading, replacing, and tying into existing facilities including the following key skills:
- Designing electrical system such that downtime of loads/facilities are reduced
- Routing cable tray through existing and congested areas
- Design structural supports for electrical racks, cable tray and misc. small equipment is a plus.
Proficient in AutoCAD with recent experience is required. (i.e., Autodesk AutoCAD 2023)
Ability to calculate loads of various equipment, MCCs, panelboards, UPS systems, etc.
Ability to size and specify power cables based on raceway type, voltage drop, ambient temperature, etc.
Ability to self-direct work with limited supervision.
Ability to read and understand electrical one-lines and to complete electrical one-lines from rough sketches.
Ability to size fuses and breakers of motor starters (up to 4160V), transformer feeders, load centers, panelboards, lighting, and other loads.
Design & drafting of conduit systems, cable tray systems, cable & conduit schedules, DCS/PLC interfacing/wiring, UPS systems, control schematics, control panels, mounting of field equipment, electrical grounding, area lighting, and power & control building layouts will be required.
Very good knowledge of the NEC is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing concrete foundations for transformers, power control buildings, electrical racks, and cable tray supports is a definite plus.
Experience designing structural supports for electrical racks, cable tray, and misc. small equipment is a plus.
Design & drafting of electrical power distribution equipment including motor control centers (480V, 2400V, 4160V). Experience with switchgear (up to 15kv) is also a plus.
Design/Drafting of SCADA systems is a plus.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is a plus.
Familiarity with Eaton/Cutler-Hammer line of MCCs, switchgear and distribution equipment a strong plus.
Proficiency in 3D modeling is a plus.
