Job Description

PTS Advance has a great opportunity in Northern California for a Safety Trainer. This position will maintain and apply knowledge of current health and safety policies, regulations, and industrial processes. Identify and correct potential hazards by inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment. CSP or CIH preferred but not mandatory.

-Hours - 7:30 - 3:30 (5 days a week)

-Pay range: $90- $110K with bonus, profit sharing and excellent benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Conduct on your own and/or collaborate with carpenter & laborer unions, HR, training vendors, and internal SMEs to plan and deliver at least two corporate safety training sessions per week, following annual training calendar, supported by the Operations Specialist.

· Serve as a subject matter expert on safety, health, and environmental issues; provide practical, hands-on guidance to employees, supervisors, and management to ensure safe operations across all job sites and facilities.

· Ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA and other applicable local and state regulations through the development, coordination, and delivery of mandatory and recurring safety training programs.

· Create, review, and update company safety manuals, policies, programs, and procedures in response to regulatory changes and operational needs.

· Maintain operational efficiency through effective use of Safety Management Software (KPA or other), ensuring accurate and timely documentation of safety activities such as toolbox talks, required trainings, observations, and compliance tasks.

· Support administrative compliance initiatives including the company's Respiratory Protection Program, annual evaluations of existing programs, and required refresher trainings.

· Coach and mentor site safety engineers by providing field-based observations, feedback, and development plans; support their continued growth through monthly trainings and tailored workshops.

· Lead companywide communication efforts related to safety via general staff meetings, superintendent steering committee updates, and special communications like Safety Flashes and Lessons Learned.

· Schedule and facilitate monthly Safety Engineer (SE) trainings and job-specific tailgate meetings aligned with emerging trends, incidents, and seasonal risk factors.

· Conduct frequent site visits to evaluate training effectiveness, ensure program implementation, and directly engage with crews to identify and correct unsafe behaviors or conditions.

· Analyze incident and injury data to identify trends and lead focused, data-driven injury reduction initiatives.

· Develop and manage technical safety documents, including written safety plans, operating procedures, and internal manuals that clearly communicate safety expectations and best practices.

Required Skills:

* CSP or CIH preferred but not mandatory

* Minimum of 3 years directly related to Safety Training

* Minimum of 5 years directly related to construction experience

* Occupational safety certifications and years of safety leadership preferred

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations and in situations where limited standardization may exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
