Job Description

Light Horse Therapeutics is a developer of first-in-class small molecule therapeutics based in San Diego, leading the way in precision genome editing applied to small molecule drug discovery and pioneering approaches to target the root causes of disabling and life-threatening diseases. Light Horse Therapeutics is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and reliable Contract Research Operations Associate to support our compound and assay operations for a minimum of 6 months. This part-time role (up to 20 hours per week) is ideal for candidates with a background in biotech or lab operations who thrive in a dynamic start-up environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for plating compounds for biological assays, handling domestic and international shipments, importing assay results into our internal database, and maintaining compound inventory. This position is critical to ensuring the smooth execution of our experimental workflows and requires a high level of ownership, precision, and efficiency.

This is a temporary contract position, located in our San Diego office, with an expected duration of a minimum of 6 months. This role is not eligible for benefits.

Job Description:

  • Design plate maps and prepare assay plates based on weekly assay requests
  • Request compounds shipping from a CRO to various locations, ensure accurate communication with shipping and receiving parties
  • Prepare and import various types of new data into internal database, create appropriate records with documentation
  • Maintain accurate and up to date inventory of compounds and/or stock solutions

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or current enrollment in a degree program) in a biological science or related field
  • Technical laboratory skills (pipetting, serial dilutions, liquid stock handling, etc.)
  • Attention to details in documenting and executing tasks
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with required job tasks in an academic, biotech or pharmaceutical setting preferred

The anticipated pay rate for candidates who will work in San Diego, CA is $50.00 to $90.00/hour . The final pay rate offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc.
