Position: Construction Project Manager

Location: Houston, TX

Compensation: $120,000 – $140,000 (depending on experience)

Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager with a strong background in retail construction to oversee commercial retail projects in the Houston area. The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing ground-up and/or interior renovation projects for national retailers, shopping centers, or mixed-use developments. This role requires exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to client standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of retail construction projects from pre-construction through closeout.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
• Coordinate and communicate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Ensure compliance with all safety standards, building codes, and permitting requirements.
• Lead weekly project meetings and provide regular progress reports to stakeholders.
• Oversee subcontractor selection, negotiation, and performance management.
• Review and approve change orders, RFIs, submittals, and pay applications.
• Ensure quality control standards are met throughout all phases of construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in retail or commercial construction project management .
• Proven track record delivering projects in the $1M – $50M range.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, scheduling, and cost control.
• Proficiency with project management software (Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam, etc.).
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and client-facing communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
