Seasonal Educator – Offsite Presentations (K-8)

Location: Carlsbad, CA

Duration: March 12 – May 2 (subject to minor changes)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM (4-5 days per week)

We are seeking two enthusiastic and engaging seasonal educators to deliver offsite presentations to large groups of Kindergarten through 8th-grade students . This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy interactive teaching, public speaking, handling bugs of all kinds, and hands-on learning experiences.

Responsibilities

• Present multiple "Murder Mystery: Good Bugs/Bad Bugs in the Garden" programs daily.
• Handle and display various bugs (e.g., snails, beetle larvae, caterpillars, isopods) confidently throughout presentations.
• Care for demonstration bugs over the 8-week period (low-maintenance bugs + some can be collected on-site before the first class each day).
• Maintain student interest and encourage participation in a large group setting.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong public speaking ability.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Prior teaching or presentation experience preferred.
• Comfortable handling insects, snails and other invertebrates.
