Family Medicine with Obstetrics at Northeast Montana Health Services and Chief Medical Officer

Northeast Montana Health Services is a voluntary, non-profit corporation with two Critical Access Hospitals, two rural healthcare clinics, two retail pharmacies and a long-term care home. Located in the communities of Wolf Point and Poplar, Montana on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation home to the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes. They offer advanced healthcare close to home. Every year, we serve about 30,000 patients at our rural hospitals in Northeast Montana, and our objective is simple: to improve the health of our regional community. NEMHS grew from the two hospitals, clinics and pharmacies located in Wolf Point and Poplar in 1996. The CMO reports directly to the hospital's Chief Executive Officer. CMO candidates must possess:

A comprehensive working knowledge of critical access hospital operations, patient focused, and current strategies for creating sustainability in today’s healthcare market. The organization is looking for a highly qualified and impactful CMO who is a family practice provider with OB to help the organization excel and grow.

• High performing family practice MD/DO focused on providing the highest level of quality care to the community.
• Experience and willingness to perform C-sections.
• Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organization objectives.
• Skill in evaluating organization operations as they relate to policies, goals and objectives, cost, and staffing levels.
• High level of emotional intelligence and ability to both listen and communicate effectively across the organization as well as with community members and the public overall. Confident and comfortable engaging with patients, volunteers, physicians, staff members, leadership, and Board members.
• Ability to create an atmosphere that encourages innovation and high performance.
• Ability to motivate subordinates to achieve personal and professional goals through practice of continuous quality improvement.
• Skill in communicating the goals of a work group or business unit to team members so that individual work behavior is aligned with broader strategies.
• Experience and knowledge of high-reliability organization preferred.

Education:

• MD/DO Licensed in Montana or ability to obtain
• OB Trained

Experience:

• Experienced Family Practice Provider w/ OB training, experience providing medical direction and supervision of teams preferred.
• Experience and knowledge of community-based clinic environment, IHS experience a plus
• Experience and/or knowledge of working in a Rural Health/Critical Access Hospital Setting
• Experience with Cerner Community Works EMR desired
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff and community.

Licenses / Certifications:

• Board Certification preferred

Wolf Point and Poplar, MT are located on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. This community is located in the northeast corner of Montana with the largest closest cities being Miles City and Williston, ND. Billings, MT is located approximately 4 hours to the southwest.
