Job Description

DSI Innovations is growing and in search of an Electrical Designer to support various industrial automated manufacturing process and equipment projects. The ideal Electrical Designer candidate will have strong experience designing, improving, and upgrading electrical systems for automated industrial manufacturing systems and equipment. Responsibilities of the Electrical Designer Include:

  • Use AutoCad Electrical and other CAD software to design, improve, and upgrade electrical systems for automated industrial manufacturing equipment
  • Collaborate with controls engineering team, panel build team, and customers to determine user specifications and requirements to customize drawings
  • Help manage projects, proposals, budgets, customers and internal stakeholders

The Sr. Electrical Designer/Team Leader role includes:

  • Plan & Manage
  • Issues internal, weekly status reports to Project Managers
  • Identify potential project scope changes
  • Ability to Lead and Mentor a Team of 4 to 5 designers in addition to completing designs and drafting for projects
  • Act as the Liaison between the Design/Drafting Team and the Project Management and Project Design Teams
  • Responsible for scheduling work for 4 to 5 person Design Team - review scope, estimate amount of hours needed and provide Commit To Dates for the Project Team
  • Update internal schedule and communicate any issues with Project Team immediately
  • Work with the Project Teams to develop additional Standards for Design
  • Work with the internal Design Team to leverage all available tools to automate and drive efficiency gains in drawing and document production
  • Design
  • Design power distribution systems for control panels (480VAC and below), I/O wiring and industrial networking systems for Industrial Automation Systems
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79 and UL508A (CSA and CE helpful)
  • Designing back panel and enclosure layouts
  • Ability to read spec or quotation and develop complete drawing sets for manufacturing and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Understands how to Automate the Design and Drafting Processes
  • Deep understanding of AutoCAD Electrical automation tools and coding
