Dog Rescue Shelter Manager

Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue is looking to add a passionate and dedicated full-time Dog Rescue Shelter Manager to support our 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Laurel Canyon.

At Ace of Hearts, we are dedicated to stepping in to rescue dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds and prevent euthanasia by finding them stable and loving homes.

Important information about the position:

• You could realistically expect to work around 40-50 hours per week in-office in this role (No remote work)
• We are looking for someone who is comfortable working weekends with 2 days off during the week, and someone who is comfortable being on-call with a cell phone for after-hours emergencies (usually medical/foster related)
• This is an in-office job (NOT remote) located in Laurel Canyon
• All of our dogs are fostered, and we don't have a dedicated shelter facility--This role handles coordination between local kill-shelters and our volunteers from our office.
• You will be hands-on helping dogs find homes, but your only direct contact with the pups will be at our bi-weekly adoption events, where volunteers bring the dogs they foster. The rest of your time will be spent in the office.

Responsibilities:

• Calling shelters to get information on dogs, and coordinating their rescue
• Handling emergencies with adopted/fostered dogs, including after hours when needed using the company cell-phone
• Recruiting, scheduling and coordinating relationships with volunteers
• Assisting in social media efforts
• Helping with grant writing
• Organizing volunteers for dog adoptions and other tasks
• Developing and coordinating adoption and outreach programs
• Overall shelter management and support
• Must regularly be able to lift 35lbs
• Other responsibilities as needed

Requirements:

• 5 years non-profit management and/or dog rescue experience strongly preferred
• MUST love dogs--all breeds and sizes--and be very comfortable walking and handling them as you will be the on-site volunteer coordinator at our bi-monthly adoption events
• Must have non-profit grant writing experience
• Impeccable organizational, multi-tasking and leadership skills
• Hands-on, proactive, able to show initiative
• Excellent phone demeanor and ability to handle multiple callers at once
• Strong computer skills, especially Excel and Google docs/calendar
• Good knowledge of social media for outreach and communication
• Must have continual access to a cell phone, laptop computer and reliable transportation
• Ability to work long hours when needed, and holidays. Must be willing and able to work weekends consistently with two weekdays off.
• Must live locally
• Must be comfortable answering an on-call cell phone for emergencies after hours

Compensation:

• $70,000-$80,000 per year dependent on experience
