Title - Purchaser/ Buyer

Tenure - Full Time, Permanent

Location - Charlotte, NC

Hours - Mon - Fri/ AM Shifts

Pay Rate - $60k - $65k/annually (+other benefits)

Job Summary

The Purchaser/Buyer is responsible for negotiating prices and preparing purchase orders for parts, materials, services, supplies, and equipment based on approved requisitions or work order demand. This role follows established procurement procedures and supports cross-functional teams, including engineering and production.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and Purchase Orders (POs).
• Interpret technical drawings and analyze material costs.
• Source various metals and components for fabrication, machining, and welding.
• Negotiate pricing, credit terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
• Identify and evaluate vendors based on cost and quality.
• Maintain relationships with existing vendors and support departments in resolving vendor issues.
• Assist with invoice discrepancies and payment approvals.
• Track purchase order deliveries to ensure on-time fulfillment.
• Organize and store vendor contracts and PO documentation.
• Maintain vendor and part/planning data within the ERP/MRP system.
• Participate in annual inventory counts.
• Follow company purchasing policies and procedures.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain process.

Qualifications & Experience

• Post-secondary education in an Engineering or technical discipline preferred.
• Experience in purchasing within a custom manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and ERP software (preferably Infor Visual Mfg).
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to travel within North America; valid passport and driver’s license required.
• Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and raw material sourcing (steel, aluminum, piping) is preferred.
• Experience with subcontracting for weldments is considered an asset.

Work Environment

• Office-based role with occasional visits to the shop floor and other departments.
