Title: Associate – Land Use/Municipal
Location: Walden, NY (Orange County) - Fully in Office
Salary: $150,000k - $225,000k + Bonus
Growing Established Law Firm Seeks a Land Use /Municipal Attorney to join their team!
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients before town/village boards, planning boards, zoning boards of appeals, and other governmental entities.
- Handle a variety of municipal and land use matters, including SEQR compliance and local regulatory issues.
- Prepare for and attend night meetings, public hearings, and administrative proceedings.
- Attend and provide counsel at planning board and zoning board meetings, city council meetings, and public hearings.
Skills & Experience :
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in New York State.
- 3–5 years of experience in municipal and land use law.
- Strong knowledge of state land use statutes, zoning laws, environmental regulations, and redevelopment statutes.
- Experience working with or for municipalities, planning boards, or zoning boards preferred.
- Demonstrated experience attending and presenting at municipal or administrative hearings.
- Strong understanding of SEQR and land use regulations.
- Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat; experience with PerfectLaw a plus.
- Ability to work fully in-office & attend evening meetings when required
