Position Summary:
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for efficiently receiving, storing, and distributing materials, equipment, and products throughout the facility. This role supports production, warehousing, and shipping operations by ensuring accurate material movement in accordance with schedules, work orders, and customer requirements. The Shipping & Receiving Clerk utilizes a variety of material-handling equipment and computerized systems to maintain accurate inventory and facilitate timely order fulfillment.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping documents, and requisitions to determine required material movement.
Transport materials and items between receiving, warehouse, production, storage, and staging areas using hand tools, hand trucks, forklifts, electric hoists, or other material-handling equipment.
Sort and store materials in racks, bins, containers, or shelving according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, color, or product code.
Assemble and prepare customer orders from stock and production materials; place completed orders on pallets, racks, or containers.
Package materials using manual or automated banding equipment and shrink-wrapping systems, following established packaging standards.
Label, mark, or tag materials with identifying information using barcoding equipment, stencils, marking pens, or other labeling devices.
Open bales, crates, and containers using appropriate hand tools.
Accurately record quantities of materials received or distributed and maintain documentation as required.
Utilize computers, barcoding systems, and scanning devices to enter, track, and verify inventory records.
Compile worksheets, tickets, or related documentation based on customer specifications as needed.
Load materials, containers, bins, and racks onto trucks using forklifts in accordance with work orders and shipping instructions.
Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and support cycle counting or inventory audits as required.
Physical Requirements:
Regular standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, and stooping.
Classified as Medium Work , requiring:
Exerting 20–50 pounds of force occasionally,
10–25 pounds of force frequently, and
Up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical demands exceed those of light work, consistent with Class I – Medium per the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (4th Edition, Vol. I & II).
